  1. Hi everyone,
I just finished burning my first dvd authored with TMPEGenc DVD authoring.
    I have no sound...(
    I tried again the process
    Here what i have done:

    in the add dvd-video wizard.
    i choose my title
and i can see audio to use for the selected title:
    audio1 DOlby Digital(AC-3), 48000 Hz, 2ch

why when i select the audio too and i click on 'ok" it says:

    audio imput file name: unspecified
audio iuput format: there is no audio

I took the risk to ignore this warning..but in the end, i burned a dvd-r playing a movie with no sound.
i double checked the folder that contains my files audio_TS and video_TS (The one i used to bring the files in TMPGEnc DVD author) and the sound played fine.
    what's the prb?

Please help me, i would like to understand if that's a bug..or if there is something first to do to correct that problem.
    thanks for answering,

  2. here what i have done more:

i updated my TMEGenc author from vers. 15.13.44 to 15.20.62.
    but still same prb.
i then did something else interresting...
i went to open files from dvds files i have ripped with DVD Decrypter.
I tried again to use TMPEGenc author by opening files from several dvds (ripped by dvd decrypter) and i could see the audio.
apparently it can read audio1 Linear PCM, 48000HZ, 3ch
    but it cant read audio1 dolbydigital (AC-3), 48000HZ, 3ch

    i compared the 2 folders.
a movie ripped with dvd decrypter, contains just video_ts (wich tmpegenc author will read the audio later)
a movie ripped with dvd shrink (the one i want to author) contains audio_TS and video_TS

    that is the prb...
I tried somehow to use dvd decrypter to ripp the movie with audio_TS and video_TS...but this program go automatically search my dvd player.
Is it possible to decrypt a folder with video+audio files? instead of a dvd in the dvd player...
if yes, how? if no, any idea how i could change the audio_TS in the correct format. (in linea PCM)
and how i will embed the final audio (PCM) in the video_TS folder in order to use it properly with tmpegenc author...
i really dont know what to do more...:/
    thx for answering,

When you import dvd files into tmpgenc dvd author just choose the main vob files and use the add dvd video tab for adding the vobs, the AUDIO_TS folder doesnt contain any files and is only there for compatibilty for older dvd players that look for that folder, the only time its used now is for special dvd audio recordings.

  4. Thx John but it didnt help me too much...
what you said, i already did that.
The main prb is the sound. there is no sound in the end.
when i click on the tab add video files, i have several titles. I select each of them and each of them has a sound in AC-3.
I then select the sound with the title but in the end, it says: sound unspecified. That's my prb! i tried to ignore that the first time but i lost a dvd-r.
Now i want to understand what i can do for that? how can i solve this prb?
i need to author my dvd with several titles with "sound".
    any other suggestion?
    thx for helping,

Use vobedit to extract the m2v and ac3 from the vobs and add the m2v and main ac3 to add file in tmpgenc dvd author.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  6. thx John! I'm gonna try this
could you tell me how to use this prog...
i try to search for a guide byut i found only this:
How to author & burn a DVD from VOB trailers/files
I need to understand the step by step process to follow for this prg to solve my prb...
do i need only this prg?
cuz i need to author this several titles i have with TMPGenc plus (wich i understand how it works already..)
i am little bit confused about the combination of these 2 prg..
    thx for answering,

  9. 3dzegner. Are u extracting the ac3 then trying to encode usuing tmpgenc?
Well, when u first start up tmpg dvd and u create a project it should offer u a video input and a audio input. then load whats approraite

  10. sorry, didnt read ur reply correctly. sorry lol.

Maybe it is just telling u that u cant input an audio source for encoding?? i dont know, just a guess, cos if u do have a audio then its something silly, u ever heard, if it works, leave it same rules apply lol

or demultiplex the vob to m2v and ac3 with tmpgenc under file->mpeg tools->demultiplex.

  16. thx Baldrick but the prb of sound is fixed now!

But i have one this problem now with menu:/

the thing is the action menu. I tried exactly 3 times to make a menu but i cant figure out how to do what i want (3 dvds lost..)

here's what i ended up each time i inserted the dvd to play:
    action taken:
    first action: display main menu
in menu display settings: main menu and track menu
action to take after each track has been played: play next track

. the 1 track first plays it's chapter.
. then i have to click on return to get the menu :/
. then each time i click on 1 track...it plays its chapter.
. when a chapter plays, i can't forward to another chapter therefore i need to press on menu to choose another chapter...:/

Now this is what i want:

. my 6 movies plays in menu when dvd is inserted.
. I want to click on the yellow rollover button and the track plays.
. and finally i want to be able to jump from one chapter to another when it's playing..

How can i fix this problem? what action? how to be able to jump from 1 chapter to another?

    thx for answering,
    regards,

  17. it is 2.35am..it;s been days i'm working on it. I need help guys..
I made several attempts with TMEGenc dvd author...but so far nothing good
I tried many times to make a menu. I always ended up with a dvd playing the sound of one track..with no image. Then i click on menu..and menu shows up. i can click on each of the 6 tracks in the menu. It will play all fine except i can't forward to the next chapter or come back to the previous one...( what;s wrong with my dvd?
I tried several times to change actions etc... but i still can't get a dvd playing menu first, then i can forward to the next scene while i am watching a scene.

i have made all my dvd that way:
    6 tracks=6 titles.
in each title, there is no chapter. Only the first one by default. (i tried to add chapters to see the difference...but still same result in the end..)
i have read somewhere that i need to insert chapter points to allow me to forward to the next track. (or chapter..)
I dont know exactly how you do that..
That might be my prb. I can't figure out how to specify to this prg "how to jump to another track while i am watching a track". Also, i dont know why the dvd always plays black image with sound of first track only...(i need to click on menu to display it...:/ )
Please help if you know how to make this kind of menu properly..
    thx for helping,
    regards,

Add each video/audio file to the same track instead of video/audio file 1 being track 1 and video/audio file 2 being track 2 and video/audio file 3 being track 3 etc.

Just put them all on the same track.

Then you can go forward and backward from one to the next using the remote of the DVD player without the need to go back to the menu.

  19. yeah i tried that before but it never worked for me..
after clicking on "add video files" title 2 couldn't be added. I got an error message saying this: TMPGEnc dvd author has encountered a fatal error wich it cannot ignore.

. Audio existence differs from the present track.

The existence of audio differs from the present track.
the existence of audio has to be standardized on the track

There is audio on the present track.

(i only can cancel this message. ignore button is in grey and cannot be used)

i have 6 titles and 6 AC3 recode with ac3 delay corrector cuz the 'add files video" couln't recognize the first time the titles with their own sound.
    now sound prb is fixed.

note: the 6AC3 files are in another folder than the 6 titles.

    what should i do?:/

To put different video/audio files on the same track each set of files must use the same audio format and be the same resolution.

So if one is AC-3 and one is MP2 it will not work.

If one is 720x480 and one is 352x480 it will not work.

I don't see any reference to this in your above posts, but are you aware that you need the AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc DVD Author to author DVD's with AC3 sound?

This is incorrect. You do not need the AC-3 plug-in to author a DVD with AC-3 audio.

All the AC-3 plug-in does is convert MP2 or PCM WAV to AC-3 for you. You can just as easily convert your auido to AC-3 with another tool (such as BeSweet or ffmpeg etc.) then import your video and AC-3 audio into TMPGEnc and you will not have any problems what-so-ever.

You will hear NO AUDIO when doing preview such as setting chapter stops but it is there and will be there on the final DVD that you create.

  23. indeed, because i'm new in this stuff...
that's why i request ur help here.
regrading the AC3, i already recoded them with DVD2AVI and AC3 delay corrector.
    Sound will play fine.

Now concerning the skiping chapter thing...that's what i am trying to figure out what i need to do to make my mix dvd working properly.

Besides that, when i insert the dvd, it will play with sound but no image. I have to click on menu and then it will show the menu with titles.

1st action taken is: menu only
after each track plays > play next track

what;s wrong with that too? why it plays black display on my screen+sound of first title...:/

that;s another prb i know..but if i could have the skip button working fine, i will be so much happy guys!

after what i said concerning the sound, do i still need an ac3 plugin?

    thx for answering,
    Quote Quote
  24. thx FulciLives for confirming that. ( i started to get more confused again..).
My audio works fine with sync and i have no prob to hear audio in the end on dvd.

    My main prb are:
.the skip action from 1 title to another..
.when dvd is inserted, i want menu plays right aways without displaying chapters. ( i foiund the appropriate action but the dvd plays black display with audio in bgd..)
    Quote Quote
  25. ok i make a test.

by adding chapters in each track, i am able to skip forward to another chapter...but i can't skip tracks. no forward, no backward..
    is that normal...:/

Also, the dvd stil play with black display+audio in bgd when the dvd is inserted in my pc dvd player.

I start to think that maybe there is difference between dvd standalone plater and pc dvd player concerning my prb...

    dunno..:/

As I said all your video/audio files need to be on the same TRACK in TMPGEnc DVD Author in order to skip between them.

For them to all be on the same TRACK they all need to be the same resolution and use the same type of audio. For instance one can't have MP2 and another AC-3 and yet another PCM WAV. Video bitrate can be different but I think (not sure) that audio format needs to be the same as well ... I don't think you can mix 5.1 AC-3 and 2.0 AC-3 ... but not 100% sure on that.

I do know you can't mix one video with MP2 and another with AC-3 etc.

is there a prg to make them all same?

When you say, "my titles are different" what do you mean?

Do you mean not all the same resolution?

I'm 99% sure that they all have to be the same format (all MPEG-1 or all MPEG-2) and all have to have the same resolution as the other. Video bitrate can differ though.

As for AC-3 I know having all of them AC-3 is what is needed. What I am unsure about is mixing different AC-3 audio. I usually use 2.0 AC-3 only so I have never tried mixing different video on the same track where one is say 2.0 AC-3 and one is 5.1 AC-3. That might cause a problem. Not sure.

If they are not all the same resolution then you have to decided which resolution to use and re-encode all the files (that aren't already that resolution) to match.

By re-encode I mean running them through TMPGEnc Plus or Cinema Craft Encoder or Mainconcept MPEG encoder etc.
