No more $2.50 per gallon for my 13MPG SUV, well at least for commuting back and forth to work...
It's electric, 23 MPH with 25 mile range between re-charges

Dope yo! Definitely pimp with the money you can save. Just be careful of the bigger, gas-powered vehicles you'll be sharing roadspace with. A battle with a Monte Carlo ended my 2-wheel commuting career

Fat girls and mopeds(or scooters) are both fun to ride until a friend sees you

Although I never raced, I always loved my little suzuki 125cc, nothing like the snappiness of that 2 stroke. I love riding motorcycles, I love street bikes, dirt bikes, whatever...and I'm sure I would like riding a scooter too. For me anyway, I think it is the open air...being outside the car so to speak.
But no matter how you look riding it...it is saving you money and that 13 mpg you were getting is no joke. I get 16 mpg and a 32 gallon tank...at $2.00+ a gallon...if it continues to go up, I will be riding a horse and that's not an exaggeration, I have 3 and ride 2 of them regularly, I'll just be riding one to work that's all -
too bad it wont go 85mph and travel 100miles cause that's what I commute almost everyday

You could cruise at 150 mph and cut your travel time down to 45 minutes..OR..you could wind it up and cut it to 30 minutes -

Tele commuting 2 days a week wouldn't be too bad then. Must be nice...how in the heck do so many of you guys get jobs where you can work from home 2 days a week? I missed that booth at the job fair -
There's no doubt that bikes are a kick, and once you get bitten by the bug, it's a lifetimt urge. I still get the urge, but usually looking down at my left leg and counting the number of incisions and staple/stitch scars usually cures that
I'm about to add Fridays to my existing Mondays telecommutingCan't beat it

There are two kinds of riders. Those who have been down, and those who will go down!
I don't know anyone who rides a bike who hasn't gone down. I was hit by a car 1 month after I got my first street bike, an 89 Ninja 600. Totaled the bike, broke my neck, left arm and shattered on of my toes.
One of my best friends got killed on his bike less than an hour after buying it...."Terminated!" :firing: -

Cool. I miss my moped. It was an modified '86 Honda Spree that could reach about 45mph, with me on it. A larger person could probably still reach about 40. I used to ride it to work most mornings and keep up with cars in the slow lane of the freeway. (There's a road that I take, that runs parallel to the freeway for about half a mile.) The speedo was broken, so I'm guestimating that it could hit 45, since that's about how fast the cars travel in that area.
I'm thinking about buying a new one, after I save some money. I definitely saved on gas and it was a fun ride to work. -

i thought of something that may be fun, doing a video of your journey from home to work - give us all an idea of where what the rest of us live is like.
you'd be amazed at my journey to work -
A quote I heard once from a ER doctor, "Buy your son a motorcycle for his last birthday".

I have a 49CC moped that I got for just over $400 that is awesome. Its got only 5 gallon tank, but gets about 55MPG. I look like a dork when I wear my helmet and ride it, but I also get a lot of envious looks when I'm riding around the traffic jams. Mine looks pretty cool though. It's a little more odd seeing a beanpole, like myself, driving it. Kindda like a clown riding a small kids tri-cycle. (no ofense Dr. Gee And Capmaster)

I don't own a camcorder, but my digicam will capture up to 30 seconds with sound at a fairly low res. If I can remind myself to throw it in the car tomorrow, I'll post a link to a mini-movie. I can't bring the camera into work since it's in a secure area, but I can pop out the CF card, leave the cam in the car, and upload the file from work. Perfectly legal -
print that out and keep it on you. just in case.
*just has visions of people bursting through the ceiling and shooting the computer as the little upload bar fills up* -
I don't really have a journey to work as such, but I can do from my house to the lab, since I have to go right across campus. My Canon does video in three-minute chunks - I could append these in VirtualDub and up the framerate to 60 fps (quad speed, capture at 15fps) to speed it all up. But then this would result in a big final file.
How would I speed the video up to keep the filesize down? I'll be encoding into DivX.
Thanks,
Cobra -
How would I go about that? Just delete frames, perhaps. There's going to be no audio to keep size down but I want to make it smooooth!
I'll work out a way to speed it up, anyway. If I can't, maybe I'll post up in the newbie forum!
