  1. I haven't managed to do this yet. I burned mp3s onto a DVD-R, but it won't play on any of 3 DVD players I've tried. They will all play mp3s on a CD-R, of course. Is there anything I can do in the burning process to have them recognized, or is it just a select few DVD players that will do it?

Judging from the above thread, I guess there isn't a reliable method that will work across all DVD players.

No, many DVD players don't support MP3 on DVD media. But yiu can make a music (Video) DVD - it's been discussed previously many times.

  4. I have a Panasonic 563A and it plays MP3 on DVD-R. Not many players play DVD Mp3s.

Might want to try a trial version of Audio DVD Creator. Audio DVD Creator allows you to create Audio DVDs, that can be played on any DVD player. I haven't tried it yet.
