  1. There is a big price difference of course but could someone advice me which should I buy.Apart from recording stuff from tv,I wanted to transfer movies from VHS tapes (most of them are from the shops) and home movies from analogue and digital camcorder.

    If you have a digital camcorder then a DVDR75 would be better as it has a firewire input on the front , which the 70 and 80 don't.
    If you are in UK Richer Sounds sell the 75 cheaper than all the high street stores sell the 70 for.

    Are you sure? The DVDR80 should have a firewire intput on the front. DVDR80 was released later than the DVDR75.

    That said there are brand new Philips models out right now or very soon(DVDR615/HDR720/DVDR755 etc.). DVDR615 has firewire has well and has finally dolby digital (appears to me that Philips is step behind competition).

  4. Ok thx guys...I hear it might not be possible to record from VHS tapes (from the shop) onto DVD because of protection etc.

    Could you verify that for me ?
