Some video cards have a TV out and some do not.

If your comptuer does not have a video card with TV out then ... you need to get a new video card with TV out.

I'm talking about the "main" video card in the computer ... this has nothing to do with a capture card.

Audio comes out of the sound card. Solder your own cable (audio L+R from sound card and video out from video card to SCART) and hook computer up to VCR. Hit play on computer and record on VHS. Connect a TV to the VHS so you can see what you're doing.

  5. If you have an expensive video card and do not feel like ditching it for a new one with video out, you can buy a scan converter, i.e. a little device that sits inbetween your video card and your monitor, and basically duplicates the signal, allowing you to run a video cable to your VCR (yellow video in jack or s-video cable for instance).

For the audio, get a cable with a normal sound card jack on one side, and white/red RCA cables on the other, connect the sound card jack to the speaker jack of your sound card (that s the green one on the colour coded ones) then the white/red jacks to the audio in on the VCR. Hit the record button on your VCR after setting the recording channel to the proper A/V channel). Start playing your video on the computer, full screen, and there you go.

    Cheers

if you just want to get some videos onto vhs, you could convert to (S)VCD or dvdr, and then hook up the output of your dvd player to the input of the vcr and record
