  1. Everytime i load a firewire dv project in premiere 6.5, I get an error saying (in summary), "use the native microsoft DV drivers for firewire capture). Now, this was working fine a month ago, and suddenly this started happening. I have not made any hardware changes.

My friend got the same error (randomly one day), and his turned out to be codec related.
    1. Does anyone have any idea which codec could be interfering?
    2. Is there a way to reset all codecs (i.e. removing all the non standard ones at once?)

    Thanks for any help/ideas!

  3. Multiple reinstalls of premiere did not work. The DV codec tip was very helpful, do you know the name of the codec in particular? Do you know where I can find the codec?

I tried intslling the Canopus DV codec listed on the tools page but it did not fix my prob.

    Thanks, I hope this works!

there are a few different dv avi codecs. the most popular are the Canopus codec, the MainConcept codec, or the Panasonic codec. sometimes they are listed in the add/remove programs. if they are, you can just remove them there. if not, you'll have to find another way to find and remove them. im not actually sure how to do this; ive never had to delete a codec. do a search around here, im sure you'll find out how.
