  7. I had a place mate, turned it down, I got good a levels (equivalent of your hnd or hnc, whatever it is called).

Started my life at HSBC, where they were morons, moved to Citigroup, then a south african bank called Investec, then back to Citigroup now I have set myself up as my own company and act as a consultant/project manager for a large American brokerage firm. In the past four years which I have been working (I started at 20) I have had over a 600% pay rise.

If I had gone to UNI, like every person on earth nowadays, I would be in my first year of work earning less than half of what I earn now, with no xp and a £20,000 debt, for a piece of paper, **** NO.

  10. I'm leaning away from things like trading and sales of stocks etc

More interested in business analysis (like improving efficiency in workplaces) or an area like acquisitions.

I'm still not 100% certain because I don't know all the areas and what they have to offer.

  11. Thats exactly what I do.

Everyone wants to be a trader cause the money is good, money is just as good in other areas you just need to find them.

It's been 4 months since my entry in this thread. What has changed? Ohh ..not much.

    1) I achieved the pinnacle of post whoredom, being elected president of a group that advocates posting meaningless, trivial tripe in order to advance one's standing in the all-time posters list. Ahhhh .....success
    2) We saw Sefy step down as moderator over a struggle of conscience he had.
    3) We saw offline put his personal beliefs into practice. He stepped down as moderator too, but it hasn't yet been implemented. He's the most dangerous type out there now - a regular member with a ban button
    4) We saw members like Will Hay, VCD Hunter, jeex and others severely cut back on their time here, leaving us to try to take up the slack. Others bumped up their time, and several new members joined who are enthusiastic about seeing their name as the last post on each and every OT thread ....in the middle of the day
    5) Naked Geek, or his minions, made appearances using various aliases. Eventually all those were banned.
    6) jeex and King John were banned. jeex had his own personal sexuality identity issues and chose to cast aspersions on everyone who spoke kindly of anyone or anything, interpreting it as blatant homosexuality. He made a personal attack on a member's child, jumping over the line with both feet, and was sent packing. King John was a disturbed man. He held a lot of hate for the management here, and only returned to cause trouble. He was sent packing also.
    7) Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Cobra was made a moderator. Me too. It adds complications to our roles here, but it is working out nicely. Having such a good crew in OT helped,
8 ) OT has morphed from a "Lord of the Flies" -esque snowballing of testosterone-fueled profanity and gross-out contests, to a nicer, saner place. As a result, some people left, and some came on board. Some of the older, grosser stuff was funny as hell, but we were getting carried away ...caught up in the insanity. We forgot that at any given time there may be 15 people in OT, but there are 120 or so on the forum, and 400 or 500 total looking through videohelp.com. We needed, and got, a "slap" to snap out of it. And we did ...beautifully

What do I plan to be doing in 5 years? Have less hair, more aches and pains, and more movies. My ~2,600 collection of DVDs will probably be around 4,000 or so. I'll be lurking here using my 50 GHz 64-bit PC with the 2 TB HD and 1 Gbps broadband.

I'll still be at the same employer ...doing pretty much the same thing, for a little more money. Gas will be $3/gallon. Iraqi cars will sell like hotcakes, much like the Yugo for a while ...but I won't buy one of those either

The OT will be pretty much the same. Many of the names will be different, but it'll still be the OT and we'll still be posting about hot babes, stupid stunts, and the latest MPAA attack Only now we will be drinking world-famous Thayne beer

Yeh, I don't want to do trading because from the courses I've done at uni that have revolved around it have given me the perception it'd be a job where for the most part you are doing the same thing day in and day out.

In acquisitions and restructuring it seems like each new business or client would be a different experience.

It evidently must be good beer, that drunk ****** hasn't posted nearly as much since his brewery opened...either that or the fermentation was accelerated and he died of alcohol poisoning.

Yeah you are right, the people and scenery are always changing obviously sometimes for the better and vice versa. You gain lots of experiences on multiple platforms across many different providers. Plus it gives you a chance to travel round all the different companies and decide where you want to set your roots (if ever).

And the best thing......well I would love to say the experience and the people, but bollocks to it, its the ******* money!!!!.
