    Hello everybody:
I have to make a PAL DVD from NTSC tape, I use TMPGEncoder to make m2v files.
I am not sure which setting to select for the "Source Aspect Ratio", which is on the "Advanced" tab of the "Settings" dialog box.
If my source is NTSC, do I select "NTSC"?
The following settings for 4:3 aspect ratio are offered:
    4:3 525 line NTSC
    4:3 525 line NTSC, 704x480
    4:3 625 line PAL
    4:3 Display
When I make NTSC DVD, I select <4:3 525 line NTSC, 704x480> and it looks fine.
    Thx: walter

  2. Since no one else has yet answered your post, I shall take a stab at it.
If it looks fine in preview it should be fine. IMHO the various settings
do not make any significant difference, only the aspect ratio.

Well, I cannot preview it, that's the problem. I do not have a PAL DVD player or a PAL TV, I am in NTSC zone.
I think I can resort to the same old remedy - if you cannot get an answer from one source, go to another. Dennis O'Neil of CrazyPants was very helpful with ReelDVD problems on two previous occasions.
I'll try one developer in Germany, if he will be able to answer it, I'll post it here.
    Thanks anyway: walter

  4. Well good luck. Mind you I assumed that you had converted
the frame rates before sending the source to tmpgenc. If you
have not done so you will need to learn how to convert 29.97
frames per second (NTSC) to 25 frames per second (PAL).
    Tmpgenc does not convert well.
