  1. Is there a way to grab the music from movies or grap the music + sfx from dvds?

    like taking one of the 5.1 channels and then extract the music/sfx part

    is there a way to do this?

    like from Star Wars, Harry Potter, you name it dvd?

    wouldnt distribute it or anything just for my personall use

    Sure. Rip it, load the VOB with the particular sounds you want into Virtual Dub, edit out what you do not want. Save as a wave.

  4. if you're trying to just get the soundtrack with none of the sound effects you won't be able to do it. You will end up with stray vocals, echoes of things going on in the center channel and various other anomalies. You can extract just from the FL and FR channel but you can't seperate the original tracks that were mixed down within that channel...well, not without the original master...and good luck getting your hands on that!
