  1. I'm trying to make my own compilation DVDs of a popular TV show. As sources I have SVCD versions of the episodes. This is what I do:

    1. Check A/V sync with VirtualDub
    2. Load files in SVCD2DVD (latest version whatever number that is) and convert to DVD program streams with Pioneer pan&scan fix applied. No header patching though.
    3. Patch headers with DVDPatcher 1.06
    4. Start up Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3 and make a compilation with the SVCDs, MF3 creates DVD folders
    5. Run DVD2One 1.4.0 on DVD folders to shrink it down to 4450MB.
    6. Burn and enjoy!

This worked just fine for the first two compilations, when I try the same process with my third compilation I run into problems. Steps 1-4 seem to be just fine, however DVD2One crashes with an "unexpected error". I've tried several times and DVD2One crashes at the exact same point every time (output folders are the exact same size every time).
I tried DVD Shrink 3.17 (or whatever the latest one is) and that crashes with an "unexpected error" when I load files (during the "preview" I guess it is, never used DVD Shrink before).
I tried having MF3 create an ISO and then I mount it, DVD Decrypter "rips" the files just fine, but DVD2One/DVD Shrink get the same result as before on the newly ripped files. When I try "Open disc" in DVD Shrink it crashes straight away (not even going to the "preview").
(I've tried outputting to different harddrives as well just to rule out hdd failure)

Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong? I appreciate any input, really want to get these episodes on DVD.

    Thanks!

  2. Why not just let svcd2dvd convert to video_ts folders and if it needs shrinking still use shrink or such program afterwards.
Would seem to be the easist way to me.

  3. Author the whole thing in dvdlab, then shrink to fit.
No transcoding/encoding/converting needed, except audio to 48khz, and dvdlab will do that for you.

  4. SVCD2DVD (or really, DVD Menu Maker) is, imo, absolutely crap for making menus etc, that's why I use MF3 instead.

I will try authoring with DVDLab tomorrow, thanks for the advice.
