I have been using Tmpgenc Author succesfully until I tried to open vob files that I had cut from larger files in Shrink. For some reason, Author does not recognize the sound in these files, though they play perfectly in other programs, and though when I import the whole file to be cut in Author this preserves the sound as well.

Since I no longer have access to the larger files, however, I am trying to find a simple way to join these smaller files to another file that Author does recognize. Hopefully this way their sound will be preserved, and I can cut them out again within Author. (I don't want to convert the files--Author reads vobs into mpgs automatically--I just want a way to join the vobs.)

Still with me? Well my problem is, having been reccommended VobEdit for this task, the program just doesn't seem to want to work for me. I followed the guide on this site for joining files, clicked all the right buttons, etc., but nothing happened. I tried it three times. I even redownloaded the program.

Incidentally, I also tried reloading the files in Decrypter and selecting "none" in the file splitting option. The files became one vob while the program was "decrypting" them, but when it output them to the harddrive they were two again.

    Am I missing something obvious???

Yes, you are. Where are the larger files that DVD Shrink ripped?
    Hello.

If I could access them, I wouldn't be asking about this.

Plus, not all of the smaller files came from larger ones. For instance, I have a set of special feature interviews which are divided into superficial sections based on topic. Author doesn't read half of them. It's as though it thinks they are all supposed to be one file. But they were divided on the original disk.

The part that I thought shold be obvious is how to use Vobedit. It seems like if you click the right buttons it should do something...
