Looking at buying my first dvd writer, I see lots of good comments on the TDK 440 External in videohelp dvd writers section, but no comments on the 880 External. Seems like a no-brainer to buy the 880 for its 8x ability, but thought I would check here before buying - anyone familiar with both and have any comments?

I purchased the 880G External DVD ... smokes... although I haven't purchased any 8x media yet it can burn a 4x full disk in about 10-13 minutes.
I upgraded the firmware which has allowed some 4x burns on 2x Fuji media.
Buy it... you won't be suffering from any post cognitive dissonance (only thing I remember from Dr. Reed Marketing Class).
I run it off my firewire port... haven't tried USB2 (dont try usb1.1) -
post cognitive dissonance = if I bought the 440 and then said "who wants to write at a faster speed, anyway? 4x is fast enough for me!"
DVD_Ripper, thanks for the info AND the concept of PCD!!
