I am looking for something that will help when tickets go for sale online at a particular time(much like the end of an online auction, hence snipe) and there will be thousands of people trying to buy them at that time.

    Damn ...oh well ...

I did find some obscure VHS titles there that I couldn't find on Amazon, so I have used it. I've also gotten ripped off more than once, so it's usually my last resort if I absolutely cannot find it anywhere else. There are a lot of scam artists. I'm still chuckling about the P-P-P-Powerbook reverse scam - priceless

i've been using the bay o E for about three years. both buying and selling i've never been ripped off or skanked. last thing i bought was a combi ld/dvd which i returned beause it was an american import model and not listed as such. however the bloke gave me cash there and then. most expensive thing i've sold were personalised plates for just over a grand, most expensive thing i've bought was that dvd/ld player at 200 notes.

Just bought processors on eBay so I can't complain too much, however I put in my proxy bid a couple minutes too early because I got some lame-ass creeping sniper on both of them right at the end. You know the type, bid, instant outbid, bid +$10, instant outbid, repeat. I think if I had put in my ONE bid closer to the end of auction I could have saved $100 on the two. ******* lamers, put your max bid in and leave it the hell alone

Besides bid-sniping is actually better than what that ass did. Bid snipers take their one large bid in right at the end of the auction, they don't generally rebid a gazillion times. Oi

Unfortunately I know of no such plan to TM. I wanted to get Clapton tickets and waited in line on the phone only to be told they were sold out within 10 minutes. Back to eBay I guess

no such software exists (at least publicly).

Ticketmaster uses a visual confirmation system where you have to type in the word or alphanumerics that show up in a crosshatched box... Supposedly, this is to avoid people who would use such "snipe" software to gather up hundreds of tickets at once for scalping. (the crosshatching is supposed to confuse any optical or program reader that could read the random letters and type them back automatically.)

I don't know the name of the confirmation system they use - I just know this from my expierience with purchasing tixs from them in the past.

If the cross hatch explaination confuses you, go to TM and start the process of purchasing seats... you'll see what I mean before you even have to enter any credit card info....

surely there could still be a prog that automated everything else, you just had to type in the hatch box. y'know, have the ocmputer bring it up, you type it in, you do the rest. you could get through a lot in ten minutes!

You have to be right there when that alpha numeric screen pops up. It resets itself every few seconds and it's like a gif creation, so there is no real text for a program to automate something for it. I remember in an old news article Ticketmaster did this diliberately to suppress scalpers. Other places have it where you have to use the same credit card, in person, that was used online to purchase the tickets in advance. If you scalp to someone underage and they get caught, they do a ticket sale trace and can make an arrest, using the address and name the credit card is related to. It may or may not still be available somewhere on MSN. I saw it a looong time ago.

yeah, i just meant a script to automate the rest of the process, card detailas address details, all that. it does all that for you you just need to tap in the code as quick as you can.

I guess that could work. Most people use the software so they don't have to be around when the winning bid gets made.

this morning at 10:00 am NBA championship tickets went on sale. After 30 brief seconds all I could get was one nose bleeder. Amazing how fast 3 games can sell out.

That's probably all the arena allocated to Ticketmaster to sell for that event. Not every seat in the arena is available to be sold to the public.

I have season tixs to a local AHL hockey team and I always hear people complaining that they can't get the seats behind the team benches when they try to buy them online OR at the door, yet they see empty seats from where they are sitting.... well, the seats are sold already to others - mainly season tixs holders - and they just didn't show up for the games.

I know from going to see games in big citys for the NHL games that unless you know someone in a company that owns season seats or are rich enough and high enough on the wait list for those seats - then you just need to enjoy the game from where you sit.

Not every event allocates a ton of the best seats to Ticketmaster - for pro events, I just go to that teams website and get the ticket info from them and call direct to the team - I've actually been told by ticket reps from the arenas/stadiums that you get the best seats by calling the arena office directly - the ones they allocate to TM are crap seats.... go figure.

Sure do. I like checking out big games(sometimes even hockey ) if I'm around. Even better when your home team is involved. Got to watch the Yanks lose in Fla last year.

You know what's funny. The Yank's springg training grounds are in FL. and they won every scrimmage game there. I saw the one against the Red Sox. I got a signed Yogi Bera Ball. I think about 200 others got a signed ball too, but I got a pic with him, myself, and my son together that he signed as well.
