  1. Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to convert an .m1a (mpeg1 audio I guess) to an .aiff file for CD usage? I have Quicktime pro if that's any help. Thanks you guys

  2. Yes, mp2 is just MPEG-1 audio. If you change the extension to .mp2, the file will be recognized by more apps.

You can try QT Pro's "Export" function and see if it allows you to convert to AIFF. I've found sometimes QT Pro will only give you "save movie as..." options when working with MPEG audio. In these cases, I use iTunes' AIFF encoder. If iTunes gives me trouble, I boot into OS 9 and use SoundJam.

*SoundJam also encodes TO mp2, so it can be used to convert sound files to DVD audio -- as long as it's set not to attach ID3 tags to the finished files.

  4. m1a audio CAN be the same as MP3, but it might also be MP2. The easy way to convert this is to use iTunes. Just drag the file onto iTunes, set the converter to AIFF, then use Advanced>Convert To AIFF.
