Please excuse my ignorance if this is a dumb question. I don't have a capture card. So, I have transferred some home video footage from my camcorder to DVD using my Philips home DVD recorder. When I import this into a video editing program Arcsoft Showbiz II, I get video but no audio. If I import into DVD playing software I get both. Is there a way around this or am I doing something wrong?

im guessing its something with your editing software. maybe a setting you missed or something? are you reading right off the dvd or the hard drive? i would recommend using dvd decrypter to rip the files to the hard drive before you start editing

Your audio will be ac3 from the philips.
Does Arcsoft Showbiz 2 handle ac3? -
I don'y know if arcsoft showbiz II supports ac3, How do i find out, or what other packages do support this. Thanks -
im not sure if it does or not. you can convert the ac3 to wav, that will work. check out the guides to the left and there are a few on how to do this
