    I use CCE SP v2.67.00.23 and avisynth to convert *.avi files to DVD. This used to be a breeze, however after I did a clean install of my OS (Win XP Pro) CCE keeps producing outputs that are much shorter than the actual movie. I have tried many different settings and two different movies but to no success. In general this is my avisynth script:

    AVISource("C:\*****.avi")
    LanczosResize(720,272)
    AddBorders(0,152,0,152)
    ConvertToYUY2()
    AssumeFPS(25)
    AddAudio()

    This move was supposed to be 3 hours but the output was only 58 min. I have tried to remove the "AssumeFPS(25)" and "AddAudio()" just in case that it might be the prob but to no effect. Only minutes differed in the resulting output. For CCE settings I usually use the ones in the guide at www.doom9.org but I have also tried to change them around. The greatest annoyance is that there is no obvious cause so I really don’t know what relevant info to post either. So if there is something you need to know to fix this just drop me a line and I will answer a s quick as possible. I have no idea what could be wrong but ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Okay. I realize this one was a little hard so I did some test to try and locate the problem. To test CCE I reinstalled my stable copy of 2.66.01.07 and run the file through there. Unfortunately I got the same result. Damn short movie. Because this didn’t help I reinstalled AviSynth and run the file again. This time I added the line “SelectRangeEvery(1200,12)” because there is only so many times you bother to encode 3 hours. Anyway, this left me with 1608 frames which translates into 64 seconds with 25fps. However once I tried to play this file, MdiaplayerClassic told me it was only 19 seconds though it actually played for much longer (didn’t take the exact time). This leads me to think that the problem might be a more general one and not be directly linked with the apps I can just ask that anyone who has experienced something slightly similar net necessarily with these apps might tell me how they fixed it because it might apply to my situation (unless it was app specific in your case). Now, just in case the problem is the *.avi I posted the GSpot export of my other movie for you to take a look at:

    AVI File Details
    ========================================
    Name.........: ******.avi
    Filesize.....: 701 MB (or 718,778 KB or 736,028,672 bytes)
    Runtime......: 01:51:01 (159,701 fr)
    Video Codec..: DivX 3 Low-Motion
    Video Bitrate: 782 kb/s
    Audio Codec..: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Audio Bitrate: 96 kb/s (48/ch, stereo) CBR
    Frame Size...: 720x480 (1.50:1) [=3:2]

    Personally I don’t see anything strange about this file, but now you know what I am working with so perhaps if you can’t tell me what is wrong with the method I am using you can provide your own that you have worked with and know should work in my example. If no solution comes along I can think of nothing else but to do another clean install because this used to work.

    PS! I use the k-lite Mega Codec pack instead of GordianKnot, so if you know of any issues with this I might try to switch as my last option.

    It may be a stupid answer but how do you know how long the file is. I could never trust mediaplayer to display the correct video length.
