  1. New here, Hello.

I recently ran DVDinfo and DVD Identifier on a package of Imation discs I purchased at Best Buy. I used both blank and burned disks. Both programs were unable to list the "media ID." Is this common?

There are discs that DVD InfoPro cannot get the media code for. However, Imation would probably use one of the major (cheap) manufacturers such as Optodisc or CMC that would always have a media code. Try another disc, one that you are sure has a media code and if that one also reads nothing, then it is probably an issue with your drive.

  3. Also, make sure you have the latest DVDInfo PRO 2.54

  4. Yep. It's the latest version.

I'll check some other disks to see if it's a problem with my drive. The drive reads other information from the disk in DVDInfo Pro, just not the media code.

  5. If they're DVD+R discs and if you have an "old" burner then it might not support reading the code when the discs are blank (ie you need to burn something on them first).

  6. Update the firmware of your Philips burner to version 1.68

  7. Firmware did the trick. It's reading fine now.
