  1. Hi All,
I'm trying to import NTSC video into Adobe Premier Pro using the Canopus ADVC-100. I'm using the S-VHS output of my JVC-S7860 video player (which can play NTSC and PAL) attached to the analogue inputs of the ADVC-100. When i import PAL video everything is absolutely fine, the picture quality is suberb and the audio is of suberb clarity. However, when I play NTSC tapes, the picture quality is fine, the sound is great, but, I lose ALL colour. Essentially, every NTSC tape i've tried to import has been in black and white.
I'm not doing anything as obvious as forgetting to set the DIP switches on the ADVC-100 and of course, the original tapes are in colour. However, it must be noted that when i do change the DIP switch to PAL, the picture comes across all garbled (as would be expected) but there is colour clearly visible.
I have tried changing the device settings in Adobe Premier from Pal to NTSC, but I've had no luck.
It's also worth saying that I've tried using Arcsoft Showbiz and the same problem occurs.
P.S. - the NTSC tapes in question are not Macrovison Protected.

it could be that your video player isn't really outputting NTSC, could be PAL60, which will work with most TVs and some capture cards, but NOT the ADVC devices.

i'd also try recording the DV stream with something other than premiere, try DVapp or scenalyzer.
