  1. I am new to burning VCD's. I am using TMPGEnc to convert AVI to MPEG-1. I then use Nero Burning Rom to burn the MPEG-1 to a CD-R. Everything goes well but when I play the disk in my stand alone DVD player I do not have sound and the picture quality seems to be that of an SVCD. Yes I am selecting VCD and not SVCD. By the way the MPEG-1 also does not have any sound on my Nero Player. The AVI is DivX codec compressed. Any advice will be appreciated.

  2. I'm not much into vcd/svcd, so you may want to check the 'how to' guides. They have ALOT of helpful information.

I believe you will have to demux the audio and input it after you encode the video using TMPGEnc plus (authoring tool).

If anyone else can help? I just took a stab at it.

Check the avi with Gspot and make sure you have the audio codec installed.

Extract the audio from the avi to wav using virtualdub (audio>full processing mode, save wav) then use the wav as the audio input when you convert with TMPGEnc.
