I managed to convert/edit/ etc. files of my daughter dancing that I would now like to email to grandma and others, but the files are too large (78 MB) to send via email.

Besides burning on a CD and mailing, what other options do I have? I set up a personal web page on my roadrunner, but has a limit of 5 MB. I tried zipping with WinZip 8.0, but it only reduced it a few MBs. Is there a place where you can upload the file so that family can download - maybe morpheus?

    Regards,

You could always send it through Windows Messenger.

Another way would be to set up a DNS with a port 80 redirect at some place like no-ip.com and use a program like THIS.

WWW File Share is a great program. I've used it many times.

  6. I agree with sitlet. I always convert to wmv or real audio. You can easily make it as small as you need it.

Thank you all for the replies. I am persuing the three options, just to learn about each.

    1. File share - I was able to do this, people can log into my URL and view my share folder, but they cannot download my avi file from their explorer. Also, I do not yet understand the need for (no-ip.com).

    2. What is the best program to convert from AVI to vmv and/or real audio?

    3. Windows Messanger is OK.

Again, than you for the help!

    Regards,

Windows Media Encoder, though Windows Movie Maker is probably easier to use. You may already have it too.

  9. For the real audio direction, real producer basic. It's also free. Hope this helps you!

  10. besides using msn messenger, or another simple chat program and transfering the whole thing, you need to get more webspace, and upload it there, allowing them to click a link and download. thats what I had to do for the same thing.

you could always take the resolution down, but then the fam can't see the video as well

yes he could do this, and spend a lot of money buying 80 megs of space that he only needs for this one video, then spend the time to upload it to the server, and wait for his family to download it. why not just use messenger? its free
