  1. I've got some cassettes of some old music that I can't find anywhere. I'm using an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 capture card and I've got my stereo outputs hooked into the ATI capture device. The left and right audio outputs are hooked up. What programs can I use to record the audio playing from the cassettes to wav files?

  3. I have my stereo hooked up and I can't hear the audio through my computer speakers. I have all the connections set up properly but I must have something wrong with a playback configuration somewhere. How can I hear the audio on my computer from the stereo so I know what I'm recording with GoldWave?

  4. Okay, got the sound problem fixed. How can I record the audio straight to wav files using GoldWave?

Click on file/new and choose okay with default settings if want that then click on the red circle icon to start and click on the red square icon to stop and then go to file save as wav..

  8. Dang, I can't get any audio still. Are there by any chance any other programs that can capture both video and wav?

  9. Make sure you have "Line In" selected in Windows Volume Control->Options->Properties->Recording.
BTW...use your soundcard instead of the ATI card.

I don't understand, why are you using a Video card

    Use ONLY your audio card and Gold Wave will do it;

  11. I've got it plugged into my audio card but I open GoldWave and don't see anywhere to hear what's playing. There is just silence. I've got my settings just fine. Do I have to have the full version? What am I doing wrong?

Stupid question, but you have got the audio plugged into 'audio in' ??

Also, If I remember, you need a soundcard capable of playing and recording at the same time, duplex soundcard I believe its called, depending how old your soundcard is, it may/may not be able to do this

Try these links for some help to get you started :

    Hi kaotek,
I've successfully converted several of my old audio casettes to wav and mp3 files, using MusicMatch Jukebox. Here's how I do it all : -

    1. Connect the tape player to the LINE-IN input plug on your sound card. My cassette player is an old Walkman. You may prefer to use a stereo system. I use a 1/8" mini-jack to go from player to PC. Just go to an electronics store to get it, if you don't have one.

    2. Set the source correctly in Musicmatch Jukebox. Go to Recorder->Source->Line In. Make sure you have got the Line Source selected. On my system it is found via Control Panel/Multimedia/Multi-media Properties/Devices.

    3. I turn down the player, but hit play. If all works correctly, I get the music playing out of my PC speakers.

    4. Simply hit play on the cassette player and hit record on the jukebox. What you should end up with is a WAV file that is around 10 MB in size for every minute of recording.

    Hope this helps!

  14. b_n83 - I don't have the RCA jack you have so I've been hooking everything up to the ATI link that has a Line In jack for the audio. I'll go today to pick up the connector you're using and hopefully it'll work! Thanks for all the help guys. I'll post my results soon.

Your sound card doesn't need a RCA connector, just a 1/8" headphone plug.

  19. I back up alot of my tapes too. This is just standard, but when you feed your audio into the computer, set the volume on the cassette player at a decent level, I set mine to where I can just hear it. You can raise the volume level once it's saved to the computer. Also, be sure and make sure if you have an equalizer on the deck, to make sure there's not too much bass, mid, treble, etc... I hope this helps, may not, but I thought it was worth the post. :P
