  1. hello all,

I bought my Norcent player about 12 months ago, after reading mostly positive reviews on this site for the (fairly cheap) player. So far it has been great and plays everything, except that the loader tray has recently started to misbehave. When I eject a disc, the tray opens, but then closes really fast on its own. I have to snatch out the disc really quickly before the player loads it again on its own. Has anyone else had this problem? are there any ways of fixing this? I'm searching for the recipt ATM, but I have a bad feeling that its just past the warranty.

    Any ideas appreciated...

I've got a couple of these region-free-able babies and they're still going fine after a year, but I'm always really careful around that flimsy tray. A friend who has one too let her 4-year-old use it.

Well, needless to say it didn't take long for the inevitable to happen. I fixed it by opening it up and completely removing the little door. It looks kind of ugly, but it wasn't a great beauty to begin with.

  3. Ok that's one possible fix-- since you're right that the tray looks really flimsy.

I'm going to try a firmware upgrade first though, since the tray is misbehaving (by closing itself right away) but it doesn't appear to be physically broken.

If its one of the "Golden" Norcent Dp300 and if its a hardware probm, u can away just replace the DVD rom drive with another one since they are just connected via an IDE cable inside the player. I have 3 of the Citizen 3830 a version of Norcent DP300 that are the so called "Golden" ones and they been working great with original (Citizen and Norcent) and hacked FW's. I also notice that the tray's are some what sensitive and the slightest movement on them can cause them to close.

    Try asking at this site:

Great support for Norcent like DVD PLayers.
