I am using Ulead dvd workshop 2 to author my dvd's. I have been using the templates provided in the program for use in making the menus. I would like to use my own digital stills as menu backdrops, but I would like to see some "animation" of sorts added to the picture so it makes it more interesting. I was thinking along the lines of some light effects, and perhaps some distortion as well. The result would be like a still picture that is now almost a short video clip with lights "dancing" on it, as well as some opaque objects moving in the background, like a film reel.
So my question is, are there any programs out there that would allow me to do this without a long drawn out procedure, something like almost adding a template to a picture to give it some effects like I was mentioning above?

Creating the animation with Macromedia Flash is one option.
In any case, keep in mind the difference: you're going to be using motion menus instead of still menus.
