I got this from "Master and Commander", but I don't know what it is. I've been through the soundtrack and can't find it. I have also tried a music identification service, but it can't get it.
Here's an MP3 taken from the film (208KB):

Can anyone identify it?
Thanks very much,
Cobra

No idea, mate. You might want to try posting the same question on the IMDB board for Master and Commander too.
-
it sounds similar to a piece of music i've heard before, but not identical. not very well played either

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Violin Concerto No. 3 `Strassburg` K.216, 3rd Movement. Probably a small part of a larger piece. I found the match on a MP3 site, which I won't list here as probably warez.

i dont think music that is hundreds of years old is still considered copyrighted. so i think it would be cool to post the link.
-
I got it from this site:http://songs.allofmp3.com/mcatalog.shtml?group=3508&album=1&albref=1

Typically the piece of music would be open, but the copyright and rights come in because of who played it. I read it in one of Lloyd Kaufman's books. In Tromeo & Juliet they used old songs and didn't have to pay for them, but they had to play the people who played the instruments.Originally Posted by jeex

Thanks redwudz, you hit the nail on the head. I only heard the second part of that in a sample I found on a webpage selling the soundtrack, and I thought it was at least a different movement.
Thanks to everyone else for helping out too. I think I might order the soundtrack from play.com.

Now that your query has been sorted, I'm gonna high-jack this puppy. :P
What did everyone think of the film itself? I thought it was quite good. It was a nice change of pace from the fluffier Pirates of the Caribbean. The battle scenes were very well done. As I understand it, the film employed a fair amount of CG effects. They appeared pretty seamless to me. Plus any movie were the French are defeated is alright by me. :P -
Nice post, TeeGee, up to a point. A country that gave us the Statue of Liberty and General Lafayette can't be all bad.
Hello. -
I have to wait a few more weeks before I can rent it for free. Damn blockbuster and their rules.

...and your cheapness. :POriginally Posted by Devanshu
You know why I think Americans hate the French? Because they're just as arrogant and self-serving as we are. :POriginally Posted by Tommyknocker -
I can pay 2(or 4) bucks and rent it, or I can wait another week and spend that money on food or a gallon (or two) of ridiculously overpriced gas. I work there and get benifits for working...what's so cheap about that?Originally Posted by teegee420

Pay $4 a gallon then start whinging. Whinging Americans don't know how good they have it, ask a British or Aussie what they pay.Originally Posted by Devanshu

In some places its now 85p a litre - if I've done my sums right I think this equates to around $7 a gallon.Originally Posted by pacmania_2001

one US gallon is 3.78 litres, so £3.21. that's ~$5.89 at the moment.
-
With the US gallon size being what it. I didn't realise they got less fuel than us :P but our gallon would cost $7 ishOriginally Posted by flaninacupboard

yeah, they refute the metric system because it's too confusing, then use a non standard system and label it as imperial. wackos

We're paying $0.965 /litre here. $CDN

The Movie... I liked for most of the reasons you mentioned teegee and I'll add one. Building wooden ships of that period was is an old hobbie.
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress? -

What is this music.......> gas prices.....>
guess it's better than discussing where to put tampons

Music question answered...
...teegee officially hijacked the thread
I don't know what to say, he's a multi-whore and he just does things like that but he's getting help

Gas is $1.99 a gallon right now.
Tampons are $5.25 for a 40-count.
Wine coolers are 8 for $5.00.
Guess who went grocery shopping yesterday?

I agree. If your better half goes through 40 tampons a month, she'll bleed to death.Originally Posted by teegee420Hello.

I'll say this, I've definitely done my share of relenting during a girl's PMS just to get her to shut the hell up. Buying tampons is only one of the damnable things I've done in the name of peace of mind.
