I have demuxed with DVDDecrypter then remuxed to an MPEG2 file in Tmpgenc, but when I use the merge and cut tool to edit my mpegs I get no audio in the resulting files. The video is perfect, but I can't figure out why there is no audio. The audio is AC3, but this is part of the MPEG and should be OK in this programme.

Do you have the AC3 plug in installed?

Thanks, LordSmurf. Will other MPEG editors cut AC3. I know there is Womble, but I'm thinking of freeware as well??

    Hi all,

I'm having a similar problem with tmpgenc's merge and cut feature as well, but my audio is not AC3: my source is MPEG1 video and MPEG1-L2 audio. After I perform my edit, the resultant MPEG file has no audio.

    Any suggestions or recommendations?

    New findings:

It appears that the MPEG1 file that I'm trying to edit/cut is corrupted somehow: It plays back fine before editing, but once I cut it, there's no audio on playback. What would cause the file to do that?

There are several other MPEG1 files on the same disc which do not show this anomaly.

    Help!

I have the same problem, do you find out what was causing it ?

    Nope, no luck.

    Nope, no luck.

Looks like we are alone with this problem.

  10. Ok

I got this far with it.

If the file is an AVI and you cut one half and then encode it and the audio is lost. The chance's are if you put it in Virtual Dub there will be a VBR error.

So its a case of save the .wav file in Virtual Dub then reload it and cut etc, that works.

If you are splitting an MPEG file and it lose's audio then I suspect that file is also stuffed, the problem is I cant find any program that tells you what is stuffed about it

Im geting nearer to the soloution, so bare with me a little while I bang my head harder against the wall.

I am asking around on the net forums at the moment to see if anyone can help.

There must be someone on here who knows the answer ?

I have other issues with VCDEasy as well that are driving me nuts.

I think it is gonna be easier for me to pay a company to transfer all my kids videos onto DVD, this malarcky seems to much like hard work and there are to many variables in all the software and file types to easily burn a SVCD / VCD with working PBC on any bleeding DVD player.

No wonder programs like ULEAD sell. I know the quality aint much but at least it does the job from start to finish with no fuss and works 99% of the time.
