can i crop then and still keep quality?

hey all... i have 2 clips i want to merge, but i need to crop like 1/2 second
off the first file, then merge, how can i do this and still keep the quality?
the files are xvid
it's a movie that the end of part 1 and the beggining of part 2 are the same for like 1/2 a sec

Use Virtualdub, there's a guide in the Edit section over there <-<-<-. You won't need to re-encode so the quality is unaffected, and when you save be sure to set the video and audio to direct stream copy
