  1. Hi,
I'm trying to create VCD from AVI file. These are the steps:

    1. Separate Sound from Video in Virtual Dub
    2. Load Video & Sound into TMPEG and convert to .mpg file

The problem is that SOMETIMES when I start converting in TMPEG the preview shows those color squares all over the picture - noise. And yet I can see my original AVI movie in VirtualDub no problem.

How do I get rid of the noise?

Try installing FFDSHOW and have another go with TMPGEnc.

  3. Thanks, I'll try that, however the problem only happens on some avi's. Others are OK so that makes me suspicious.

    Any other ideas?

Try my suggestion first. You should also determine which codec the problematic avi's have in common(if any). Use G-spot for that. My guess is that they're XviD.
