I have been trying to reload the software that came with my ADS Instant DVD. When I try to use it it gives me an error message saying "start up volume is locked" and will not let me use it. So I deleted the folders for both prorgrams from the preference folder. I have tried to connect the support for the programs they basically told me the same thing. Well it hasn't worked and the tech support hasn't given me anything else to help. Anybody got anymore ideas?

You could try repairing the permissions on that drive using Disk Utility... Also, sometimes a simple restart fixes problems with some installers for me, for some unexplained reason.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

I know I'm missing something here. This software is installed by double-clicking the CD icon, selecting the folders inside and dragging them to the hard drive (recommend the Applications folder). When you open each application the first time you have to enter your authorization codes. It sounds like you dragged the CD icon instead of the enclosed folders.

I did try permissions and restarting.

I can't open the applications from the disk. I haven't even copied to the hard drive. I figured I wouldn't until I figure out whats wrong.

Its weird. I can't find any files that are still related to it.

    Try it this way:
Click on the install CD icon to select it. Choose "Duplcate" from the File Menu. Now open the applications in the folder you just created. If everything works, you can drag that folder to your Applications folder. You won't need the CD again unless you need to reinstall the software some day.

By the way, a newer version of CaptyDVD is available for download at ADStech.com. Look for the support pages for your product.
