  1. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for cheap blank DVD+R Media on the net or high street shop for my NEC DVD+RW ND 5100A.

I have been to the usual sites.... Dabs, Bigpockets, Overclockers etc.
but i have seen notes on most products that say "This media is not suitable for NEC Writers". I am stumped for what to go for!

I am currently using Verbatim DVD+RW disks that work perfect, but at 19.99 for 5 disks at my local store... it is really expensive!

I was told that NEC drives cant write to certain purple sided blank media, like the ones you find in cake boxes of 50 or 100 on bigpockets.com and like i said before there was also a note saying that they were not suitable for NEC writers on the site.

Does anyone know what I should go for? i dont mind what make or brand and I would be looking for about 100 Disks mainly for video backup.

Thanks in advance for any information that you can supply me with.

    Regards,

    Access.

  2. I have Nec ND1300A and Samsung +R works like a dream. Just stay away from Samsungs DigitAll series, they are Optodisk, while the other +Rs are Taiyo Yuden. BeAll/Samsung has made their own +R media layer now i heard, but hopefully the Taiyo Yuden ones will still be in the stores for a long time. Very nice price, over here its close to half price compared to Riteks.

  3. I have a 5100A also, and I use TDK 15 pack spindle from Compusa. No coasters so far and they work perfectly.

Since most media purchases are in spindles of 25, 50 or 100 you really need to try out just one first to see if it's suitable.

Perhaps we forum'ers could set up some sort of 1:1 exchange scheme where we send you a blank DVD in exchange for one of yours. That way it has just cost you a couple of stamps to try out a particular brand rather than an costly spindle purchase. (This would need to be region specific of course - it wouldn't be practical to send them to other countries)

I'm currently using Infiniti 8x +R discs, but on a Pioneer writer. These have been great.
