    I don't know how to write programing or I would.

    But i was thinking. WHat if you wrote a program that detected your DVD-ROM, then could extract the firmware and open it in some sort of firmware editor. Then you could change the region settings.

    It wouldn't suffer from the fact each drive is different because all it does is edits the drives own firmware.
