  1. Hello all, ok, this is probably the easiest question to answer , so forgive me, but I want to :

rip from a dvd (probably dvdr, not a pro dvd), re-edit the footage, such as trim start and finish, new chapter points, etc) and reburn to a new disc...

Now, i`ve ripped it ok, sitting on my hard drive in some bizarre format I don`t recognise ( being a newbie that is ), and none of my editing software seems to recognise it - should I first rip as a certain file type ( mpeg?) to edit, if so, do I get a loss of quality, or are there basic dvd editors/authors that will read a standard dvd I01 type file?

I`ve looked through the guides, but not actually knowing really what to look for is proving to be a bit tricky! I know this isn`t a forum for ripping, and it wasn`t actually meant to be a post about that, as it seems to work ok with dvd decrypter, but am I using the wrong tools to do a simple job?

Thanks for any help or pointers to the right direction,
    Nathan

Basically I've found the easiest way for me is :>

    1. Rip DVD with DVDdecypter (1 large vob - no splitting)
    2. Load into Mpeg-Vcr (Do all your cutting/trimming)
    3. Save back as Mpeg2
    4. Load into TMPGenc DVD Author (add chapters points/menus etc.) &
    burn.

    Agrred.

I would add that TMPGenc DVD Author by itself will extract from DVDs ( if protected , hve anyDVD running in the background ) or unprotected DVD r directly to MPG2 which can then be reauthored right within TMPGenc DVD Author - I do that will all my Phillips DVD Recorder disk I burn of TV programs.

Works perfectly well and I only need one program.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
