you need to export these as mpeg1 [vcd] or mpeg2 [SVCD/DVD]

once you get them in this format they should be good to go.

When you say tost wont handle them, are you in the VIDEO tab. I always assumed toast could take mp4 movie and convert it?!?!

Yep in Video tab it comes up with an error saying it is in a format it doesn't understand. Plus Quicktime does open it but with the same error + no sound.

  4. You need to obtain the proper A/V codecs for QuickTime Pro, try DivX Pro 5.07 or later.

I've run across a few AVIs that QT had problems with, and usually it was the mp3 audio. Most of the time ffmpegX was able to convert them to something QT liked. If it will play in MPlayer OS X 2, ffmpegX should be able to handle it.

    Sounds like MS-MPEG4

Search Versiontracker for the codecs (v1 and v2)

Then use DivxDoctor 2 to get the audio to work.

A new french application is out . This application could do that. It's name is "MovieGate".

It's in french language, but it's easy to understand how to use it.

You can download it there :

    http://www.macetvideo.com/moviegate/moviegate.html

Before to run MovieGate, you neeed to install the same libraries than ffmpeg needs. (Just downlod and install the latest Ffmpeg to be sure to have the latest libraries installed on your computer).
