Hi, does anyone know of any good Multiplexer programs available? I had rendered some files for DVD authoring when I first started using Vegas. I rendered them to either .m2v and .ac3 or .wav. A business associate of mine wants to repurpose the material on the DVD and he needs the videos in .mpg format. First, I thought that .vob and .mpg were the same and that he could just use a ripping program, but I found out that VOB and MPG arent' the same and thus Vegas won't open them up on a timeline. Then I got turned on to this Womble program that lets you multiplex and demultiplex and convert audio streams and everything,,, well ti worked for me, but he's having sync issues, why I don't know. So my final option in this whole mess is to multiplex the .m2v files with the ac3 or wav to creat a new .mpg.

Is there a program that will do this and create a STANDARD MPG that I can open with Vegas?

    Thanks,

    Mike

OK, I just saw in another post to use TMPG for all the multiplexing crap...that's all fine and dandy, I tried it, worked great, Final .mpg worked great, but now, when I open it up on the vegas timeline, it just puts the video stream and no audio,,, why is this? It's doing the same thing as when I just renamed the vob to mpg and someone told me that vob isn't the same as mpg and that it contained extra stream stuff,,, so now I'm wondering why a multiplexed mpg from tmpgenc won't open correctly in vegas???

I don't know about Vegas, but some authoring programs require seperate Video and audio files, that could be the problem.

  4. No audio?

Was the audio you muxed with the video PCM or AC3?

If its AC3, then that explains it - Vegas won't open AC3 audio. It SHOULD open PCM/WAV audio and MPEG 1 audio.

well the particular video we were trying to do was indeed AC-3...So are you telling me that Vegas should open the .vob (video and audio) if the audio is mpeg audio or pcm ? I see how that could make sense since vegas doesn't open AC-3 at all...
