i have old super 8mm footage im happy to try and capture. i have a crude setup. digital 8 cam recording from the screen it actually looks very good.... except
i get a rhythmic flashing on the picture. it gets real bright then goes normal and over and over again. i assume this is a framerate issue but i wonder if theres anyhting i can do? i will be experimenting more but i wondered if there was anyone out there with a similar problem? my cam doesnt have an iris control but i will be trying exposure as well as other settings

Most camcorders have a form of shutter speed control. Check your manual and see if yours does. Then play with it and see if you can match it to your 8mm projector speed which usually causes this phenomenon.
Depending on the sentimental values of your project, you may also want to look into a telecine box n eBay for example, to make converting a little easier.Hello. -

Hey,
The problem you have is due to different framerate of screen and the recording camera.
For VirtualDub there is a "DeFlicker" filter available which normalizes video pretty good...
For the rest... you need to synchronize framerates...
