    recently i have been looking through the threads similar to this one and i have found none that answer my question. My problem is that i have been using the program iuVCR (since virtualdub seems to choke on winxp and this is the only alternative that can take it.) it all seems to go well.. i configure everything.. but then the captured avi has no sound where the preview did. i have selected line as the capture device as i did before with no problems. any advice at all is greatly appreciated.

    ps: the codec i am using is the PicVideo MJpeg codec at quality setting 18.. if this makes any difference.

    Make sure you use the audiosel.exe file off of the cd. You have to do that in win2k and XP to make audio work right each time you capture
