  1. Hi,

I want to burn the same image simultaneously to 2 DVD drives.

    My set up as follows..

2 Identical Pioneer DVD-R Writers. Installed on the same IDE cable both have the jumpers set to cable select.

2 80GB HDD installed on the other IDE cable.

However I have the following problem

If I burn an image to drive A it takes 13 minutes
If I burn an image to drive B it takes 32 minutes
If I burn an image to both drives simultaneously it takes 32 minutes

Drive A is obviously being slowed by the slower drive B when burning using both.

So my question is this WHY IS drive B so much slower than A. I thought maybe it was because they where both on the same IDE but in that case both should take 13 minutes when used a the sole drive shouldent they !!!!

    HELP

Have you checked the DMA settings on drive B?

Also I would hard set the jumpers to master and slave.

If the drives are Identical you shouldn't have a prob. probable DMA settings

Goto start menu - run and type devmgmt.msc in the box
expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers section
locate the ide channel that your Writers are on and dbl click (or right click - properties)
On the properties box look in advanced settings at Transfer Mode (should be set to DMA if available) and Current Transfer Mode (should be DMA Mode)
Also worth checking the other ide just in case (on mine the HD's are set to Ultra DMA)

    Ditto what Roderz said.

I daisychained 3 identical 4x external firewire burners and duplicate my instructional videos that I sell 3 at a time in the latest Nero 6.x.x.x

14 minutes per each 3 disk greatly expedites the duplicating process. Of course it is easier to set several firewire drives than internal IDE drives. nevertheless it works either way.
