  1. DO NOT VOTE ON A PRODUCT JUST BECAUSE YOU USE IT!!!

I am looking for the best DVD-Quality program for main movie w/ menus.

Supposedly DVD2one is really good according to...somewhere I read.
Then Good, Bad, And ugly said that DVD x Copy Xpress had the best quality

Then according to Big Movie recording quality test they said InterVideo DVD Copy v. 1.2.

I do not feel, like buying all of these programs. Can anyone give me a good idea? I am liking the sound of InterVideo because it automaitcally does menus when you do movie only, but the rating is really bad compared to the other 3.

Right now I use Shrink but I feel like getting one of these programs. Plus I notice some pixilation (when I watch LOTR with complete DVD backup)

Which is it!?!?!? Aww this is driving me insane. Just put what you think. If you havn't tried at least 2 of these and compared please put that when you submit.

Firstly, the dvd.box.sk article was reported as misleading. From what I gather, the Intervideo results were supposedly actually screen grabs of the original DVD.

Secondly, look at my firstly. Literally. Most transcoders will produce essentially identical results up until a particular screen size. To say one is better than the other is determined not only by the quality of the transcoder but also by the screen it's to be displayed on, the amount of extras kept and the judgement of the viewer. The last being of particular importance, hence my firstly. You will find any amount of people saying one is better than the rest but you should not believe any of it.

Even if everyone who might vote in this poll had tried all these transcoders, the results are all still subjective. I think there should be only one vote and that should be yours alone because you're the one who can decide what's acceptible to you on your equipment.

I realise I might not have answered quite how you'd liked but I hope you understand what I mean.

  3. Yeah, totally. Thanks.

    So don't get Intervideo...

Well i don't have the money to purchase like 4 programs. I am thinking of going with DVD2one. In this movie only mode...do you get the menus with it? Or what would be the easiest way to get movie+menus (no extras)

i read the whole "Big Movie recording quality test" article and decided to try the Intervideo product. When I transcoded with it, i forgot what movie it was, i would get a big pixelation splotch (i'm talkin huge, here) every once in a while (unaccepetable for me, especially for DVD quality, maybe OK for DivX). I did the same movie w/ Recode, watched it, and no pixelation ever. That made up my mind

I have previously used Nero Recode (which is my first choice now), DVDShrink, and DVD2ONE. They are all good. Also tried DVDxCopy, which is a big piece of crap IMO; made for extra lazy ppl who ride the short bus. :P

  5. Hmmm...Recode. I'll have to look into that. I do not believe any of the reviews "tested it out". So far its between DVD2one and recode.

The person who wrote Recode also wrote DVDShrink.

    How's that for a pickle?

  7. WOW...Seriously!?!? Arg FULL CIRCLE. But in Shrink can you do movie only w/ menus but w/o extras? If you can... maybe I will stick with shrink.

So im assuming that the quality is the same Shrink vs Recode.

Does anyone know if DVD2one's movie onlymode includes the menus? (lol the menus are the best part)

  9. ok....I'll tkae it that Moive Only Mode doesn't.

In Shrink from what i gather, i coudl make a movie with just the menus and main movie by dragging the "menu" and title1... Am i correct?

  10. I have all above programs and I used all of them before.

Only had problem with DVD Shrink which some of DVDR wouldn't play.

    Otherwise all work well.

  11. Ok. Thanks

So basically all of the programs (dvd 2 one, Shrink, Recode) have good quality. Has anyone done movie only... or know how to get Menus+movie only on the backup?

This is a stupid statement. How do you know what looks good until you use it or see somebody else use it?

  15. Hmm... maybe... I meant like "i am going to vote because i use this product therefore it is the best because i am god.. and anythign i use has to be the best" (basically voteing for something, but its the only program you have used and you havn't researched it).

Hmm. From goign through th board supposedly clone DVD does that if you choose MAIN MOVIE ONLY. It is rated 8.8. Is the quality good? Almost as good as Shrink. If it is... i guess i'll give it a go.

  16. Bump... Confirmation? If i reauthor with shrink coudl i get the menu's with movie only?

  17. Im sure Im going to be ripped apart by all you computer junkies, but why on earth would anyone use anything but DVDXCopy Platinum? I work 50+ hours a week, and also like my social time, so any program that will rip a movie, compress it, and automatically burn it with out having to sit there for an hour is fine by me. The only pain in the a$$ is the 321 studios splash at the beginning of the dvd, but the copies are great and Im even using a 51" RPTV without any concernable difference unless the movie title is over 6 GB or so, in which case I simply rip to 2 disks at 100% quality. I am very caucasion, so I dont need to tweek the language selections, and if I want the menus Its easy with the advanced setting. I guess it may be part of the fun, sweating in front of your computer for 2 hours tweaking a rip, but Id rather be sipping a cocktail and enjoying life.

    Peace

first off... no offense but you used the wrong usage of concernable... maybe you mena discernable (SP?)

secondly... for some its a hobby... All i want is the easiest way to have MENUS+MOVIE-EXTRAS but with good quality.

DVD SHRINK (make extras "still" images, which will take up almost no room, and deselect the audio for it too).

www.digitalFAQ.com and look at the DVD COPYING guides

Exactly! If you want to keep the menus (God, I dont know why anyone would since it only takes away from your video quality. ), just use DVD Shrink in full movie mode and set all the extras to still images.

Any way, my vote goes for DVD Shrink. I dont care how good the others are, and yes, I have used some of the others also, you cant beat FREE.

Your logic sucks. You might as well take Jack Valenti's adviced and just buy a second copy of the DVD.

I mean, what the hell fun is it when it's that easy?

  24. K.. i'll have to try that. I like menus. IMO its what makes a DVD a DVD...Maybe i am just crazy and like menus.3

Arg... the only problem now is I have to rip the stupid thing then go back to my comp then do shrink and burn.... That means ih ave to be by my comp. Oh well... i guess i'll have to suffer through it.

Why do you rip first then use Shrink? Shrink will rip the DVD for you.

  27. OH Yeah... i don't rip then shrink... i do it in one... well i mean .. like launch IMGtools and then press that button...which could be a problem if i am not here.

  28. In reply to the gentleman who simply told me to purchase a second copy because Im doing it to easy, I ask you this....how many people in this forum actually own the FIRST copy!? I just dont understand why anyone would want to spend more time than they have to to make a DVD? I have never encountered anything that 321 adds to the disk that affects me in any way! True, you cant make another copy using the 321 software, but at that point you already have a 4.7 gig dvd that you can clone using just about any other cloning program with no need to shrink. If you want the fastest/easiest program....use Platinum. You can use the advanced setting and select anything you want the menu to have, and it is far easier than any other program out there.
