  1. Got the SVCD burned, as converted using ffmpegX from a DivX avi file. The DVD player recognizes it, and I can play it, but the audio skips. It doesn't "start and stop" so much as it is missing little tidbits every 2 seconds or so. However, it appears to stay in synch with the picture despite the fact that I am missing the audio in certain places. The picture seems to be okay.

I encoded this on the fast SVCD preset. When I play the mp2 file itself, the audio is fine. Is this my DVD player or the image creation process?

Also, it's a wide screen avi, so I need it letterboxed. I know the "decode with quicktime" setting (what I used) auto letterboxes it. If I have to move away from this, I also need to know how to keep the black bars so i don't end up with a stretched out picture.

    Thanks!
    Kari

  2. "fast SVCD" is still slightly non-standard and some players will complain. In case of small audio or video skips, you should switch to "SVCD" preset, which is slower, but 100% complying to standards.
