PAL and NTSC DVD player Questions

I am about to burn some DVDs that I am going to send to a group of users that primarily use the PAL format.

For videos we used a seperate set of tapes for PAL, and NTSC.

I have searched the site and cannot find a definite answer to whether or not I must encode the video in PAL and NTSC exclusively or if there is a way in which a single DVD can do both PAL and NTSC.

I am assuming that DVD players like VCRs play on or the other (and occasionally both), so what options do I have open with playback on the disks?

I am currently running winXP, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Using Roxio Easy CD creator 6 to burn the discs.

My DVD Player can play both NTSC and PAL

I'm not sure if I'm answering your question or not but..

In the USA (nor sure about Canada), 90+% dvd players are NTSC only players. In Europe and most of the rest of the world, their dvd players are both PAL and NTSC compatable, so they'll recognize/play either format.

If I am reading your question correctly, you are also asking whether or not you can author a disc that has both NTSC and PAL content. I don't believe the DVD spec allows for this, so authoring software that requireds strict compliance may not let you get away with it. DVD Lab produces a warning, but does let you compile. You may find that some DVDs will either choke completely, or only play some of the content, or may play all of the content, but not adjust correctly for the format change. If you want to give yourself the best chance of success, master it all for the format they will be using.

i'm yet to find a DVD player in this country which doesn't support NTSC as both PAL60 or true NTSC.

Video format is only an issue for people in america it seems
