  1. Classical Guides for ?
Since alot of you seem to prefer the Classical Guide interface, I was working
on a few more which have smiliar interface, but using different programs.

for Example, two new guides were created:
    1. DVDx / Chapter-X-Tractor / VCDEasy
    2. CladDVD XP / VirtualDub / LSX Encoder / Chapter-X-Tractor / VCDEasy

If you have any other combination of programs you wish to see as a single
guide, let me know, and i'll work on it, in the meantime, i'm looking for your
    comments/questions as usuall.

  2. Bad News
KVCD.net will not be able to host the guides for awhile, it's causing too much
traffic, I have confirmed that when possible, he will bring back the guides.

I'm trying to find another host, and i'm currently in talks with www.afterdawn.com
and I am hoping he will agree

I'm Curious as to why KVCD's traffic on the guide was so heavy, there are so
many hosts, which I specificly tried to organise in order for Traffic not to be
heavy on a single page... if anyone knows of another web that will agree to
be a host for the guides, please let me know!

  3. Guide Updates

I've Done Major Updates to the guide, including a new encoder that has
been added, and also re-wrote the VirtualDub+VobSub section, here are
    all the changes:

    1. DVDx - Updated all images to latest v2.2 release!
    2. VirtualDub+VobSub - Updated to v1.4.13 and 2.23 and completly
re-wrote the page and took out LSX from the VirtualDub page.
    3. MainConcept MPEG Encoder v1.3.1 - Has been added, also to the
    menubar
    4. LSX - Is now selectable from the menubar, and it's now a standalone
    instruction
    5. LSX+VirtualDub Guide - completly changed according to the new
    VirtualDub section
    6. Intro.html - added links for MainConcept MPEG Encoder
    7. HTML's - Internal links have been re-written in the FrameServing, so it's
easier to navigate to the next section that can be used.

No news regarding AfterDawn yet, i'll report as soon as I can, those who
want to access the updates guide, can do so on my homepage at this link
    http://www.sefy.dtdns.net/guides/index.html

Later on this week it should also be available on more hosts.

  4. Minor Updates

    1. Updated VirtualDub to the 1.5.1 release
    2. Updated HTML's in the guide for better access

Currently DVDRhelp and MPEGx have updated versions of the guide, hoping
the rest will join in by the end of the week.

  5. Guide Addons

I've been requested (in email) to cover additional programs:
    - Alcohol 120%
    - Burn-At-Once

I've currently finished adding them, but i'm currently waiting for approval
by the author of BurnAtOnce, so I can upload the new updates to the
hosts, both authors of Alcohol 120% and BurnAtOnce have replied to me
and gave me their blessings, so expect updates (again) soon!

I've also contacted all program authors representetives to ask for their
official permission and of course if they request, removal (I hope not) of
    their programs from the guides.

If there are any other programs any of you wish I will cover, please let me
know, and of course i'll want the download link and if possible the author's
email, so I can contact them and have their approval.

AfterDawn has included the guides on their page, and they also include the latest revision of the guide, they even made a "new" design for the guide so you won't have the menubar or frames

  6. Complete Backup Guide v2.2

Not yet, but still working on it, those who visit my own guide page may notice
i've already started updating and changing, and preparing the new addon like
AVI/DivX and RM, and how to convert them into proper MPEG files.

Also in the works, but will be much later is the DVD Burning from all of those
sources (DivX/DVD/RM) but of course this will not be anytime soon since i've
got no DVD Burner, and I only add what I can test.

If anyone has any other ideas or found errors in the guide, please tell me so
i'll do my best to fix and correct everything.

  7. Thanks to ColtWalker i've now added the "Forced Subtitles" explanation into my own guide, so there won't be any need to switch between guides, hopefully will make things much easier.

You can preview it before it will be publicly released to the hosts:
    http://www.sefy.dtdns.net/guides/frameserv3.html
and the actuall "Forced Subtitles" section
    http://www.sefy.dtdns.net/guides/forcedsub.html

@ColtWalker, as you can see, i've basicly copied what you said, I hope you don't mind, i've of course mentioned it's you, and added your nick to the Special Credits - Guide Helpers section.

    Guide Almost Done!
And alot has been added if you've followed my posts here, most of the programs i've managed to update now, i'm only having problem with DVD2SVCD as it keeps on crashing on my machine for some reason but other then that, and going through links, guide should hopefully be released to all hosts starting next month.

AVI and RM Sections are already up on my page as well, if I find more to do, I will do my best to include it before release, but again, this version is mainly for maintenance, I wasn't planning on adding as well, that's a side bonus

    http://www.mpegnews.com/files/guide/sefy/index.html

Hosts currently in transaction and alteration of the guide's interface are:

Hosts which i'm not sure are going to update anymore
    http://www.dapcentral.org/faqs/vcd/

And since as usuall I didn't get any comments/replies, i'm putting work on
it on hold till I actually feel like working on it, this guide was only released
cause of the two donations that were made and thanks to email requests.

  10. News Update

I've been notified by the DtDNS dynamic web service, that they will start charging for their DNS services from the 1st of May 2003, so i've tracked other free services, and these will be the replacements:

    http://www.sefy.dynu.com
    http://www.sefy.dynup.net
    http://www.sefy.dyndns.org

and also these, although I prefer those above when it starts with a www

    http://sefy.ods.org
    http://sefy.dnsq.org
    http://sefy.no-ip.com
    http://sefy.opendns.be
    http://sefy.dyndsl.com
    http://sefy.dyn.dhs.org

So anyone who made a bookmark to the old http://www.sefy.dtdns.net please know it will only be operative till May 1st 2003, so I suggest you change your links to one of the above.

    Regarding The Guide

I'm currently putting all work on the guide on hold, but if there are bad links or specific requests, they will be fullfilled as soon as possible, guide only recieves an update thanks to the donations that were made, and those who donated will be the first to test (if they will email and ask me) a standalone self-viewer offline version of the Classical Guide.

  11. Homepage Going Offline

As i've been having way too many hackers on my home PC, i've decided
to take off the homepage, but I found a nice free host, so i've reset the
counter and i've uploaded my entire webpage to a new location, which
means that all the DNS hosts I have are basicly no longer valid, unless I
re-activate the web on my own PC, the "permenent" host is:

    http://sefy.fateback.com

It's not fancy, but it's short, and the guides are of course located here:

    http://sefy.fateback.com/guides/index.html

There is also a chat room on the main page for those who want to try and
get me for a little talk, that is if you catch me

This will always be the most updated link for the guide as this is where i'll
upload directly from my PC, i'll give a link for the other hosts to download
    any updates for the guide.

I've been asked by some to update the guide regarding VCDEasy 1.1.5 and DVD Decrypter v3.1.6 as they have different screens and don't match anymore, so thanks to further donations, I should have the new images for them ready by either the weekend, or next week.

NOTE: DVD Decrypter v3.1.6 Images have been uploaded, and pages will be updated around the web, some already have them

UPDATE: Looks like VCDwizard v2.8 came out, so i'll make sure it will also get an update in the guide as soon as possible!

  19. Guides Host Updates

DAPcentral has upgraded the guide from v2.0 to the pre-released v2.3 (still going through some changes, that's why not officialy released yet!) and the guide will also recieve a new host in www.theisonews.com so that would be the 8th Official Host (9 if we include my own page).

I Hope this helps the hosts and not getting too much hits on the guide and that the users are not over crowding one page, as happened on kvcd.net which can't afford to host my guide anymore.

I've finally started working on updated the programs, and for starters, i'll finally have DVD2SVCD (1.2.1 b2) included in the guide! of course after I will get the permission from the author!

I'll go over all the links in the guide, and programs and see what requires updating (like Nero and VCDEasy) so if you guys want anything to be added, now would be a good time to ask for it :P

    News Update!
Here are the currenly updated programs in the guide (can be viewed currently only on my webpage till I get approval from authors and hosts)
    + CladDVD 2.5.0

  23. DVD Backup Guide v2.4 for 2004

Here is what will be updated for the new release:
    burtatonce v0.99b
    VirtualDub v1.5.10
    VCDwizard v2.8.3.0
    DVD2SVCD v1.2.1 b3
    DVD Decrypter 3.1.7
    Alcohol 120% v1.4.7
    BlindWrite Suite v5.0.2
    NTI CD&DVD Maker 6.5 Planitum

And i've just recieved permission from ImTOO Software to add their program to my guide, so expect to see ImTOO DVD Ripper and Encoder in the next version, and who know, maybe some more

    Minor Update
I've just finished creating the ImTOO DVD Ripper part of the guide, went rather fast. Next will be the programs mentioned at the top, but that will propably be during the weekend and next week.

Also, two more hosts are going to be added to the guide:
    http://www.dvdhelp.us
    http://www.techhelping.com/pages/pdvd.html

As soon as the guide is available there, i'll let you know

    More Updates
I've also added Dr. DivX guide, but I don't know if it will be used yet, i'm waiting for permission from the Authors first. Also found another Cut Tool which seems to do a nice job, it's called AVI-MPEG-ASF-WMV Splitter v2.31 and i'm also waiting for a reply on permission.

Now i'm working on Programs which support encoding QuickTime to AVI and MPEG

    Real Tiny Update
I've recieved the permission from Dr. DivX so that will be included in the new guide. Guide itself is nearly done. I'd like to give big thanks to the author of VCDEasy who is helping me out on making the HTML's be more efficient and using the stylesheet instead of how they are now.
