I ripped a DVD from my friend and I want to make an SVCD using it. I have the saved VOB files on my computor and it's taking a lot of space, so I want to get rid of it as soon as possible.
It's an anime (japanese animation)
I'm using TMPGENC.
Can somebody please answer these questions:
1. I open up the .VOB files but there are horizontal lines when I'm done encoding. I want those gone. How do I remove them?
2. How come we didn't see those lines when we watched them on my DVD player? If I don't change the settings and keep the SVCD MPG movie interlaced, will I still notice the lines?
I also have the programs to make an AVI with those files, but it's just going to take so much time and I'm going to lose the quality of the movie. So I prefer not to make it a non-interlaced AVI (I got to remove the lines when I made an AVI, but not SVCD...)
So... can anyone help me? (I'm a newb at these things, so I may not understand everything, so try to explain things the easiest way to understand... please...)
Thx in advance!

Sorry, I re-read the seconde question and it didn't seem clear, let me explain (in case you didn't understand)
When we watched the DVD on my DVD player, we didn't see any lines (obviously). So does that mean that if I don't remove the lines and keep the MPG interlaced, will the lines still be noticable on my TV?
I hope that was clear...
Oh, and one more thing, I can't re-rip the DVD... my stupid friend sold it..........
thx again :P -
Never remove interlace. It will be fine, SVCD is MPEG2 which uses interlace.

okay thx, i had already figured that out though... lol
I tried to see if we would see the linterlace lines (I burned a part of the .VOB on a CD-RW and it worked fie on my DVD player...lol)
and either way, how stupid of me... there's a setting beneath custom color correction called "Deinterlace"................... I can't believe I didn't see that (in case I want to make a VCD instead of an SVCD... That's what I have to do right? Like if I want to deinterlace the movie.......... anyways my problem is solved so I need not ask more questions... thanks anyways!)

Do an adaptation if you must deinterlace
