I download a mpeg file from the internet and the file extension is mpa all the time. I've been trying to get back my original mpeg file extension for over 2 days now

well, thats just the name of the extension that is being used on the website/ftp/whatever you're downloading from. if you want it to be .mpeg or .mpg, just rename it. its not that big of a deal.
