  1. Is there any way to burn the SVCD disk images to a CD without Toast? I don't have this program, and don't really want/need it, so is there any way to do this with disk utility? What files would I need to burn? Just the images, or do I need to worry about the toc files and such?

    Thanks

MissingMediaBurner (uses cdrdao and other stuff for burnin/ripping etc) http://homepage.mac.com/rnc/, a free app, does this job. As far as I know Disk Utility cannot burn XA.

In MMB, if you have toc and images:

Video button --> Burn Multitrack CD-ROM XA - cue or toc

Select the toc file, drop it into the files window and hit Start

--Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt if your drive is supported--

Firestarter is another option if you want to burn bin or cue files. I think it also uses cdrdao.

BTW, that drive list isnt comprehensive (or maybe it just hasnt been updated in a couple of years). My drive (UJ815B DVD-RAM) works with both those apps (some trial and error with MMB, I think in the end the 2nd generic-mmc-raw option worked for me).

Just a quick question. If you say you don't need it, then why are you asking for a program that does what it does?

  5. Because I have no other use for it, and it's expensive. I'm basically just doing this to make space on my HD by making copies of the shows I have saved on the hard drive in a format I can watch on the tv instead of just on the computer. Disk utility, iTunes, and iPhoto take care of all of my other CD burning needs, so I don't really want to pay a bunch of money for Toast when all I'm needing is just to be able to make VCDs. (And even that isn't urgent...just something I thought would be cool.)

I downloaded firestarter last night, but for some reason it doesn't like the bin file. I'll try the other one later. Thanks.
