Have been creating MPEG-1 files for use on VCD for a while now and have never been totaly happy with the number of macro blocks visible when played back through my DVD player. Then the other day I created some clips using a non dv source (just an old HI-8 tape) and dropped it onto a VCD. Played it on the DVD player and not a single macro block! Obviously the image wasn't as crisp as the regular DV footage I had been working with, but I much prefer the no macro block look!
Anyone able to explain this difference in final output?
I was thinking it may have something to do with the way I have deinterlacing.
My setup: DV footage captured with scenalyzer. Edited in Premiere 6.0. Converted (including deinterlcae/resize) in TMPGEnc 2.01. Burnt using Nero.
