  1. Lately converting Xvids into a mpgfile with tmpenc give me a mpgfile that stutters, it looks like the framerate is totally different. However there is no problem with the audio
I installed the latest xvid codec.
    What could be the problem?
    Please help!

Could it be the field order? I've heard of that causing jerky playback.

It could be the result of a frame rate conversion, such as 23.976 to 29.97.

What are your source files NTSC or PAL and what are you encoding to NTSC or PAL ?

  5. You can use GSpot to find out what the framerate of the original AVI file is, and compare that to the desired output framerate.

If you do need to convert between framerates, the guides can be found here:

    Hope this helps,

  6. Its a NTSC movie (23,976 fps) and just want to convert it.
    No framerate conversion
I use a kvcd template for the conversion.
Gspot says that i've installed 2 Xvid codecs and 4 audio codecs.

  7. I'm using kvcd templates to convert the xvids.
When I use a template with a resolution of 480x480 i get problems of stuttering.
When I use 352x480 I don't get this stuttering, anybody knows why?
I used to work with templates 480x480 without having any problems?
With the new avi files I have???

Make sure that the template uses film so that 2:3 pulldown is applied so that you dont get jerky encodes.

KVCD is mpeg-1, which I believe does not support 3:2 pulldown. You may have to use SKVCD.
