  1. I am trying to copy mission to mars, but when i use dvdbackup, when i go to select the dvd, it won't allow me. And then when i try to click on the dvd on the desktop, it says that mac osx using it so it cannot be accessed. I have made tons of copies before, but this has never happened. Is there any way around this?

Try dragging the DVD to DVDBackup's window. Or, you can try using MacTheRipper, after you've quitted DVDBackup. Also, make sure DVD Player isn't playing the DVD while you try to rip it.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  3. If "WiseWeasel" trick does not work then try Virtual PC with windows and run dvdshrink

before doing the VPC/DVDShrink method mentioned, i would exhaust all the Mac rippers first

    MacTheRipper
    YadeX
    OSeX

if you get the same problems with all of these, one could say you probably will with the VPC/DVDShrink as well

make sure your disk is clean and fingerprint free that can cause problems also. Use some soap and warm water and acutally wash the disk off and let it dry with air, then use a lint free cloth to wipe away water marks if any are present

  5. If a disk is dirty best thing to use is a Disc DR. Or Game DR. It goes by many name's. They sell them at Best Buy and EB and FYE.
