  1. Hopefully this is the right forum...

I'm looking for some software that I can use to easily make an intro for a video I'm working on. In the past I've done some 3D rendering, but I've got a couple of week to complete this project, so time is of the essence.

Maybe something like Ulead Cool 3D, but I'm not finding that easy to use. I could learn it, but on top of the regular video editing, etc I fear that I'm going to run out of time.

Anyone have any suggestions on aps that might fit the bill. I would like something with a 3D look to it. Something like the little intro your local news uses. I'm going to peck around see what turns up...

    Thanks...

You may also want to take a look at Video Studio. It has a simple interface for titles and animations. Also, Main Concept gives away texture loops which makes pretty good backgrounds.

    Like this for example.

  3. Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator. Expensive, but it will definately get the job done.

  5. Thanks for the suggestions so far...

The target audience is going to be impressed with almost anything, however I'm a little more particular with the quality of my work.

I guess the best example of something I'd like to do is the 20th Century Fox Intro with the spotlights, etc. Doesn't have to be that complex or "crisp". That's a good example... Ultimately I'm looking at animating the name of the event (possibly more than just one object) across the screen, possibly with some lighting effects and a moving camera. It's for an awards ceremony at work, so I would like it somewhat impressive

I do like the TommyKnocker example, even that would be impressive enough for them, but I would want to do more without having to go to class for Maya or Lightwave.

I've been playing a little more with Ulead 3D Production Studio, that seems to do a bunch of what I'm looking to do, it's just not intuitive yet. maybe I'll hit one of those "A-ha!" moments....

Just took a look at that, WOW! That's exactly what I'm looking to do (if you check the Gallery)... Haven't seen the price just yet, I grabbed a demo and I'll check it out. Maybe I shouldn't even play...

check out Wax 2.0 as well - freeware, and has some features that are optimized for this sort of thing.

not the most intuitive program, but if you read the manual and play around with it, it starts to make sense. follow the tutorials / examples in the manual first, you'll start to get a feel for it.

and you can't beat the price.

If you haven't completely abandoned Cool3D, I also did this for you with it, a Main Concept texture loop, and Video Studio 7 (the music was included).
