The way I posted always worked for me. Are you sure you have enough disc space ? Or maybe someone else will have another idea.

  6. ohhh disk space is not a problem bro i have like 99.8 gb to spare plus a nother 40 gb on a slave drive so space not a problem it just keep saying that the video output well exceed the max amount space to fit a standered 4.7 dvd and the video resualt may not come out right but it won,t even let me get far enough to finihes the movie off i wish it would just do what i want man there has to be a nother program out there

I'm sure with the dual layer burners coming out that TMPGenc DVD Author will be redone to allow dual layer discs. Of course, this doesn;t help you now.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  8. What version of Tmpgenc DVD author are you using? I have 1.5?? something and it will make almost a 9gig dvd! If you are trying to make over 9gigs it will not do that though. I know for a fact it WILL make about 9gigs as I did the Titanic once, both tapes at high bit rate, like 6,000 or 8,000 bps. Both tapes were about 6gigs on the hardrive. I made both tapes into a 2 DVD set (6 gigs each) then shrunk with DVD Shrink to fit to 4gigs on a DVD -R disk.

Then I made a one disk DVD. The 2 mpg files I had made totaled 12 gigs when I added them together. 12gigs gave me the over size warning as normal, I ignored the warning and the program worked fine untill it hit about 9gigs then aborted with an error. SO, I then used the 2 compressed dvds I had made and added those together instead of the mpgs. That totaled about 8gigs and worked just fine. I then compressed that to fit one disk.

That one movie alone was 3 over size disks created and then shrunk to fit the disk. I have done this many many times with other movies.
Mostly I do original stuff, camcorder tapes and such. Many times I do not know the actual running times before a capture so I just set the bit rate high enough for good quality and capture. Often the mpg will be well over 5gig if the tape was full or recorded in those extended or long play modes.
Titanic I mentioned was an experiment to see how well this methode would work because I had a high quality tape I could compare to the dvd I created. I bought 6 of the 2 tape boxed collecter tapes, but only wanted to open one, and of course I wanted to watch it on the dvd player instead of messing with tapes.
Anyway, as you can see the Tmpgenc DVD Author program DOES do about 9gigs which is a full daul layer DVD if you ignore the warning about being over 4.7 gigs.
If you can not do this I would look for other problems. Perhaps your total size is over 9gigs?

Another thing you can do is think of other options for ways to do this. If you are adding clips together, then make a DVD that fits a disk and shrink that. Basically what did with Titanic for a one disk movie. Each tape was larger than one disk would hold (6gigs) and that added up to more than the 9 gigs the program would do (12gigs), so I made the DVD files, shrunk those, then created a new DVD by adding the 2 DVDs together after they were shrunk. Using this methode worked well. So you could add up about 4 gigs of files, create 4 gig dvd, shrink to 2.5gigs then master another dvd for 4gigs and shrink that. Repeat as often as you need to. Import 2.5 gig DVDs you created and shrunk and master a new 4gig disk. If need be shrink that when done also so you can add 2 of them together again.

Many ways to do this, but remember if you are shrinking alot of stuff you will eventually start losing enough quality to really notice the difference.
It's actaully best to capture at the proper bps in the first place most the time. But this methode works when needed.

One last thing, if you create dvd files and shrink and create more dvd files as I mentioned you only really need to edit the final dvd you are creating for all the ones combined. In other words you can cut all the stuff out you don't want durring the first dvd of each set of files(saves space), but wait till the final DVD to add chapters and make menus and such.

Hope something helps ya out there, but unless your dvd is over 9gigs I am sure you have some other problem, not the program, unless there is a newer version than what I have and they changed the limit. I seriousily dought they would have lowered it though, especailly as someone mentioned new dual layer drives are comming out and that means 4.7 gigs will no longer be the disk size everyone is now stuck with.
