Let's get an idea of what brand most people use.

  2. I dont care about the brand, the mediacode is the one that matters for me. From your list i would have to chose "other", or possible Maxell, the TaiyoYuden ones.

Good idea for a poll friend but thor300 is right. Media code is what matters. Verbatim, Fuji, Memorex etc. do not make their own discs and often have several different companies do it for them. So even if someone says they prefer Memorex DVD+R, do they mean CMC or Ricohjpn? To most people on these forums, that matters A LOT more than the brand. Also, many people seem to be using Ritek or Ridata nowadays which is not up there.

I suggest you revise this poll to make it a little more useful for media shoppers instead of just a list of brands. Maybe different +R, -R options, and brands+codes.

If I could find decent poll software (any language, easy to setup), I'd put up a huge poll there, one that lets you vote for any of them (20-40 options). One for "which brand do you trust?" and one for "which is your favorite media? (media ID)"

I like PVC, TYG01, MXLRG01, MXLRG02, RITEKG04 inkjet, PRODISCS03 (Azo), LD01 inkjet, RITEKG03 (branded flavors), TDK (-R and -RW), and INFODISC (+RW) ... not in preference order, just a list.

I wish I had a coaster of one still. I'd draw a target on it, snap a shot, and upload it for you. Ah, well.

Yep that is pretty much the main two things that count. Decent price and they work well. The other thing is that they last forever once burned.

I go for Riteks myself, so since it was not a choice I put other.

Price is not my biggest concern, quality is. I don't want people complaining the disks don't work in thier players or they went bad in a few months or so. That seemed to have been a problem with some cheap disks long ago as I remember, do we still have those problems or have they all gotten better and more reliable now?

Compatibilty with setop players is a major concern, I may have a Norcent and Apex that will play anything now, but what will I buy next? I want all my disks to work in all players, I don't want to be reburning again latter because some new player I buy won't read some cheapo 20 cent disk I used today. Kinda defeats the idea of saving money on disks.

So after lots of studying, reading, and asking around, I have found Riteks to be disks most serious burners trust and now that I used them awhile, I trust them too so far.

I'm glad prices are comming down on disks, but gee I still got lots of my last 100 left, I paid about $1.25 for them and now I see I can get the same printables for $0.78 so I geuss I burned my own self about $0.40 a disk buying too many at once!

yeah im using ritek now, been selling discs i created on ebay and not had one return. i don't mind paying 50 odd p a disc, but i'm grabbing as many as i can. i had been using nan-ya media, then suddenly they were all gone! i then had wait three/four months for some decent media to show up!

i'm using printable discs even though i don't have a printer, but hey. they look nice being plain white.

    Maxell branded DVD-R.

Brands I've tried and steered away from because of excessive coasters: Princo, Ritek (shiny silver), Ridata (matte silver), Optodisc.

ProdiscS03 -R inkjet printables. Maybe some problems with some writers, but appear to be perfect in my Pioneer A05 and all of my players. Pio really seems to like everything though, only coasters I've had were power interruptions when the computer wasn't on the UPS..
