    I am trying to capture video from my Sony PC105e using a ilink and Pinnacle 7,Yet keep getting the message cannot Initialise!,Any ideas guys??,I've looked through numerous guides etc!?

    First thing is does your cam show up in My Computer? Before launching the software plug it into the firewire connection. Turn it on to VCR mode, you should get the connection sound like you plugged something into a USB port. See if it's in my computer.

    As a bit of a newbie I'm not sure if my Usb cable is firewire or not(It's the one that came with the camcorder?)

    Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you between the two.... I only used the USB sound as an example because most people are used to it, forget I mentioned USB it means nothing for this conversation. When your cam connects to the comp it's the same sound though as making a USB connection for firewire which by the way is also called I-Link or 1394 cable, there all the same.....So

    USB=USB

    Firewire= Frirewire, I-Link or 1394

    Yes mate I have an ilink but the camcorder doesn@t show up in my Computer or the 1394 in device manager!

    Well what happens when you connect it? Does it say found new hardware?

    Make sure your turning it to VCR mode.

    Any unkown devices in device manager?
